Thursday July 26

Camp has continued to roll along smoothly as we just wrapped up day four. As we look forward to day five we realize how precious our time with the kids is. As the old adage proclaims, ¨time certainly does fly when you´re having fun.¨ Day four was full of activity, smiles, laughs, and more than a fair share of hugs. Today´s message reiterated how to trust in God no matter what happens in life. Per usual the ´ninos´ loved using hand gestures and emotions to express their feelings and emotions.

During crafts Stacy, Katie, Folami, and Monika earned brownie points with the kids through foam stickers to adhere to covers for their English note card books. The kids literally didn´t want to leave the room because of their excitement.

The games group had fun continuing with the Trust in the Lord song and dance. After that, the campers got the opportunity to play Red Light, Green Light, an American classic! During the game David and Jordan played policia sending children back to the start while Collin helped children call out stop light colors. They were even able to use English colors, no doubt a tribute to our fantastic English teachers. Thanks Elena and A.J!

Speaking of English, during this session, they continued to work on children´s note cards and then continued into a song. Throughout the day maestros were able to hear children repeating the lyrics, ¨Hello, how are you?  I am good, thank you.¨ It was truly amazing to take in how quickly they learn and how well our teachers are implementing English words.

As we look forward to tomorrow we realize just how much we´ll miss the kids. The joy on their faces truly humbles us from our American sense of happiness. To see the places these beautiful faces lay their heads and spend their time is often hard. Beyond the infrastructure though, we find ourselves sad to know the percentages for their future. Amazed by their responsibility, happiness, and respect we hope our small contribution to Communidad Mosaico breaks the mold for a few of these beautiful souls.
