October 2012 | Uganda | Day 6
Today we were back at it after a restful day in Jinja yesterday.
The focus for the day was Bible 101 with the older students at Musana. Along with that, there were a few projects we were able to help out with.
First, Bible 101 with the kids was a good time to get together and talk with some of the older students, learn more about their perspectives and spend some time studying through the Old Testament. We only have two sessions with the students so Scott condensed the Old Testament into about 2 hours! Quite the feat. We discussed the Creation Story with them, the promise God made to Abram, how God chose kings, etc. The kids came up with ways to remember the things God created on each day of creation and we talked about what it would be like to follow God to unknown places. But the highlight was acting out the story of David and Goliath with the whole group. Michael Koehn played Goliath and did a tremendous job of being eliminated by a very small boy who represented David.
The afternoon was full of playing with kiddos, sharing some beautiful pillowcase dresses with the girls, painting the new library and shooting some video.
All in all a full day with a great ending back at the Musana guesthouse and a dinner called Rolex. For those of you who may not know, Rolex is a mixture of eggs, peppers and other veggies wrapped in a chapatti which is sort of like a tortilla. All that capped off with a visit to Musana’s Sol Café.
Haril’s dad is still in the hospital in Kampala, the capitol of Uganda. There are some really great positive signs, but there are still some serious concerns. Though, Haril’s dad is conscious and talking, the doctors are concerned about the cause of the stroke. They were trying to get another CT scan today, which may be delayed until Monday to try to determine if there may have been any affects on his heart. They are also concerned that there may be bleeding in his brain. Please continue to pray for Haril’s dad, and the family who is very concerned.
