Things to Know (FAQ)
(click a question for the answer)

What is fusion's mission statement?

fusion is a safe place where the community of singles can gather as a group of trusted friends for the purpose of helping and encouraging one another to apply and follow the teachings of Jesus. We accomplish this by caring for and supporting each other, praying for one another and partnering together in recreation, service and outreach. And we laugh and have fun together!

What does God say about community?

Romans 12: 9-13 Don’t just pretend that you love others.  Really love them.  Hate what is wrong.  Stand on the side of the good.  Love each other with genuine affection and take delight in honoring each other. (a SINGLE light in a community of many!) Never be lazy in your work, but serve the Lord enthusiastically.  Be glad for all God is planning for you.  Be patient in trouble and always be prayerful.  When God’s children are in need, be the one to help them out.  And get into the habit of inviting guests home for dinner or, if they need lodging, for the night.
Philippians 2:1-4 Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ?  Any comfort from His love?  Any fellowship together in the Spirit?  Are your hearts tender and sympathetic?  Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one heart and purpose. (a SINGLE light in a community of many!)  Don’t be selfish; don’t live to make a good impression on others.  Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself.  Don’t think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others too, and what they are doing.
1 Corinthians 12:24-26 So God has put the body together in such a way that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity.  This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other equally.  (a SINGLE light in a community of many!)  If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored all the parts are glad.

When and where does fusion meet?

fusion starts just after the Saturday, 6:30pm service ends and is held at our Student Center unless otherwise stated. (click here for directions).

What are the ages of the people who attend fusion?

fusion is a ministry for people from 25 years old and up.  God’s family spans all ages and each of us can learn from each other.  Not only can the 25 year old learn from the 50 year old, but the 50 year old can gain great insight and wisdom from the 25 year old!

Is there a "creep" factor?

Of course!  Anytime a gathering of this size happens there will be a few creeps…heck, we wouldn’t be Flatirons if there wasn’t a creep factor!  So we watch out for each other, we lovingly and gracefully approach those who may have these tendencies and speak the truth while remembering that even those of us who are creeps are loved by God!

Is fusion a place where I can meet a potential mate?
fusion is a community where people can meet, learn, laugh, grow, share, have fun, explore and connect.  It is NOT geared toward a meat market approach.  We hope that women meet other women who they can share their lives, faith, struggle and dreams with.  We hope that men can come together to challenge each other to run after God, share vision and mutual respect.  We pray that all of you are like iron, sharpening each other, speaking truth with love and grace and help each other to become the people God created us to be.  It is not our hope to marry you off or pair you up hoping for the “magical spark,” if it happens it happens.  We will have discussions on what it looks like to be in healthy relationships but this is not the venue to enter believing that is only a place to find a mate!
How do I find out what's going on at fusion?

Check our website (www.flatironschurch.com/fusion) for upcoming events or add your name to the email distribution list (click here) and you will receive a weekly email with this info or check out our fusion group page on facebook.

What leadership structure is in place to meet the needs of this ministry?

LINK Team

L…Light in our World
  I…Intentional Community
    N…Not in our own Strength
      K…Knit together in Christ

LINK is fusion’s volunteer leadership team. The team is committed to ensure fusion is a place that stays on target for our mission statement to provide a safe atmosphere where the community of singles can gather as a group of trusted friends for the purpose of helping and encouraging one another to apply and follow the teachings of Jesus. LINK volunteers oversee the teams that make up fusion…Programming, Connections, Events, Community Outreach and Missions, Logistics and Prayer.

We want everyone to take ownership in this ministry and the best way to do so is to get connected in our volunteer opportunities. If you want a voice in the direction of fusion…come be an integral part of it! Currently we have four teams that are in place to facilitate the needs of this Singles ministry. They are...

Connections Team

This team is the core for helping people get connected at an event. They will ensure that every event is a safe and friendly place where people are connected to others and better connected to God. Volunteers serve as greeters at the front doors, nametag table, info center and “floating” within the crowd to introduce people to others. These are the folks who help to draw everyone into community, fun and connection and serve as sources of information.

Community Outreach & Missions
This team looks for opportunities that singles can get involved in locally and globally. This will be the outreach that demonstrates God’s love through local service and global missions. You do not need to be on the “community outreach” team to participate. All service opportunities are open to the entire community of fusion.

Logistics
This team is responsible for the setup, execution, and tear-down of a fusion Saturday night event or other events held on other days of the week. This entails anything and everything from setting up chairs to running tech to taking care of the facilities that we are using.

Prayer
We, as the prayer team, are available for people to come to for prayer, or perhaps just someone to talk with. We are not here to give advice, but to be a conduit, an operator if you will, between the person and God.

Suggestions for events, topics and service outreach
If you have an idea for a fusion event, service outreach opportunity or relevant topic please feel free to let a LINK volunteer know, email Nan Goodenow or drop off your suggestion at the info center and we will take it under consideration. Please make sure you give us some direction on how your idea can be accomplished either at the Student Center or at an off site venue…in other words, don’t give us the suggestion without some ideas on planning!!

These areas are designed for you to step out of yourself and take ownership of this community called fusion. God doesn’t do His work alone, although He could without breaking a sweat, instead He invites us to be a part of His Team and He does amazing things through us. So, since we are chasing after God and His desires for this ministry, we will do as He does, invite you to be a part of the team so that through you amazing and miraculous things will happen! To get involved click here or signup at the fusion Info Center on Saturday nights.
