Jesus taught over and over that faith which leads to a better life is not simply a matter of believing the right set of religious facts or information. Life changing faith is about taking what you believe to be true about life and about God and APPLYING it to your daily circumstances. In this series, we are going to be looking at several of those key truths that, when applied, can actually make a difference in our lives.

There's an App for That - Money
There are few things in life with more potential to be used for good or evil than money. How do we ensure that money serves the purposes of God as opposed to us serving money?

Sexual sin is different than all other sin. God warns, "Pay attention" and run.

Note: This message contains adult subject matter and language that some may find offensive.
There's an App for That - Guard Your Heart
We have a certain cliché in our country that sounds good: "Follow your heart." But where has that led us? Where is it leading us? Where will it lead to?
August 14-15, 2010
Teaching Pastor, Scott Nickell
There's an App for That - Making Wise Choices
Just because something is "not wrong" doesn't make it the wisest thing to do.

There's an App that you can use for every decision of your life and know that you made the wisest decision possible.

Each summer, we take a "time out" to go back and do some evaluating to see if we are "on track", as individuals and as a church community. What's that mean? It means this...everyone of us is on a journey. The "track" of our past has led us to where we are today and that same track will lead us into the future. The question we will be asking is this…"Is this where we want to go?" If things continue, if nothing changes, if we keep going the way we're going, where will we end up? Second question: "Is that where you want to end up?" Or, maybe, there’s a better way—to do life, to do love, to do relationships, to do church.

Summer is here! School is wrapping up and the pools are opening. Summer brings back a lot of memories. Most of us have a memory of the first time we jumped off a diving board, or better yet, a high dive. There is nothing like that feeling of letting go, of going all in. To jump requires ALL of you, Mind, Body and Soul. What would it look like to live our lives in the same way? Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love God with ALL your heart, with ALL your soul, with ALL your mind and with ALL your strength.
|

Cannonball - Jumping
This week we are going to watch as Abraham finally jumps and the story is not an easy one to digest. What if one of the most offensive stories in the Bible, was meant to offend us?
June 12-13, 2010

Cannonball - Looking Over the Edge
We live in a culture that values independence and self-sufficiency perhaps above all else. Yet when we look at the Bible we see an emphasis on the importance of recognizing our dependence on God.

Cannonball - Getting in Line
Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love God with ALL your heart, with ALL your soul, with ALL your mind and with ALL your strength.

All my life, I've been searching for some really big answers to some really big questions, like "Who am I...really? Why am I here? How much am I worth? What's the point of my life? How does God fit into my life? If I want God in my life, why do I need Jesus? Is it even important that I search for answers?" Those are great questions. Here's one more..."Would the rest of my life be different if I finally discovered the answers to the questions that I've been trying to figure out All My Life?"

For many of us there are some major roadblocks to buying into this whole Christianity thing. Often those roadblocks come in the form of questions that we feel need to be answered. Big questions like, "If there is a God and He is good, why does He allow evil and suffering to continue?” This four week workshop seeks answers to that question and several other "Big Questions About Christianity".

A Habitat is a place where something or someone lives. It might be a house, a hut or a palace...but, bottom line, it's where you live your life. Houses may be made out of different materials and look very different, but all houses have one thing in common. If they aren't built on a solid foundation, when a storm rolls in, the house will fall apart. Jesus said houses...and life...are very similar. In this series, we are going to find out what he meant.
|
|
Habitat - Habitat For The Life You've Always Wanted
We're building on truth, covering everything with love and getting rid of the junk. Now is the time to start filling up the house with good stuff.
March 27-28, 2010
Lead Pastor, Jim Burgen
Habitat - Habitat For Hoarding
With a foundation of truth below and a covering of love above, now is the time to start cleaning house.
March 20-21, 2010
Lead Pastor, Jim Burgen
Habitat - Habitat For Love
If building a good life can be compared to building a house, then what's the equivalent of putting the roof on? What is it that provides shelter and protection from the storms that will come?
March 13-14, 2010
Teaching Pastor, Scott Nickell
Habitat - Habitat For Stability
The first question is not, "What kind of life do you want to build?", the first question is, "What do you want to build it on?"
March 6-7, 2010
Lead Pastor, Jim Burgen
Habitat - Habitat For Life
Everyone is building something and everyone wants to build something good: plans, goals, relationships. The problem is, many of us have no idea what good looks like, let alone, how to build it.

In this series, we're going to be looking at the concept of having "margin" in your life? What does that mean? It means arranging your life so that you have some space to be available for what God may want to do in your life.
If you have more things to do than you have time to do them, that's called stress. If you spend more money then you make, that's called debt. But, if you intentionally rearrange even the small parts of your life, your time and your money, you will surprised to not only find margin...you'll also
find...peace.
|
|
In The Margin - Medal Ceremony
If you watch the Olympics you will see people who have worked harder, gotten up earlier, spent more time and effort than anyone else in the world get rewarded for their efforts. That is the way many of us approach God. Many of us believe that the harder we work to be good, the more God owes us His acceptance. Is that what Jesus taught?
February 20-21, 2010
Teaching Pastor, Scott Nickell
In The Margin - Welcome Home Party
Jesus came to seek and save the lost. We all get lost at some time in our life, for different reasons. But, there is nothing better than being found. That...deserves a party!
February 13-14, 2010
Lead Pastor, Jim Burgen
In The Margin - Wallflowers
Do you have anyone or have you ever had anyone in your life that you just don't like? You may have really no reason at all or you can't count all the reasons, but you know one thing 'I DON'T LIKE THIS PERSON'. What does Jesus have to say about those we marginalize because we don't like them?
February 6-7, 2010
Teaching Pastor, Scott Nickell
In The Margin - Party Crashers and Party Poopers
Jesus welcomes everyone to the party. Why can't His followers?
January 30-31, 2010
Lead Pastor, Jim Burgen
In The Margin - Margin for the Marginalized
As people, we have a strong tendency to be exclusive—to circle up with people like us and push others away. Jesus lived and taught something very different. He was incredibly inclusive. Jesus came for the sick, the hurting, the broken and the marginalized. He was also very clear that if we want to follow Him, we must do the same thing.
January 23-24, 2010
Teaching Pastor, Scott Nickell (feat. Jim Burgen)
In The Margin - Creating Space
Creating Space in our lives means to intentionally do things
today to be available to be used by God tomorrow to care for the things that He cares deeply for...the poor...and...the Gospel.
January 16-17, 2010
Lead Pastor, Jim Burgen
In The Margin - Priorities
Everything in your life is important. Some things are more important than other things. Our "priorities" reveal what is important and what is more important.
January 9-10, 2010
Lead Pastor, Jim Burgen
In The Margin - Spare Change
In God's economy, everyone doing a little, goes a long way.

Once again, it's that time of year where we decorate our homes, rush around buying presents for people that we care about (trying not to think about next month's credit card statement), hit some parties, drink some "egg nog" and...oh yeah, remember that it's the birthday of Jesus. Why do we do all of this? Because it's Just Christmas. That's what you do, right? Maybe. But, maybe, there's something more...something overlooked, something that
Jesus doesn't want us to forget in that little word..."Just."
|
|
Just Christmas - It Matters
In spite of our reasons and excuses, God can use anyone and everyone to make a difference that matters.
December 19-20, 2009
Lead Pastor, Jim Burgen
Just Christmas - Lights Shining in the Darkness
There has to be more to life than trying to stay safe until we die. There's darkness that needs to be invaded by light, bullies that need to be stopped, hurting and helpless people that need hope and lost and broken people that need to be rescued.
December 12-13, 2009
Teaching Pastor, Scott Nickell
Just Christmas - So What? Now What? For What?
Jesus was born in Bethlehem, lived, died, rose from the dead. Three questions for us today: So What? Now What? For What?
December 5-6, 2009

Some things were just meant to go together. They’re fine on their own, but
when combined with something else...wow...it’s a whole new experience.
That can be a good thing or it can be a disaster. If one compliments the
other, it can be awesome—we’ll go back for more. But if the two things
were never meant to be together, or if one tries to overpower the other,
the results can be nauseating. What’s true with food is true with people,
especially when it comes to love and respect.

a reality in your life?
November 28-29, 2009
Lead Pastor, Jim Burgen
PB&J - Fatherhood
A lot of us have different experiences with this thing called "fatherhood". Some of us have great fathers, some of us have terrible fathers and some of us have never even known our fathers. PB&J - One
We were meant to be ONE. The greatest enemy of our marriages and families is not affairs, addictions or mistakes. It is isolation from and independence of one another.

PB&J - The Fallout of Sin
Now that we know what God intended when He made us male and female, and what He intended when he created marriage, we are all painfully aware that things are not that way. The question is Why?

Everybody has faith…in something. Regardless of religion, philosophy or “this is how I think life works”, we are all trusting in something to be true and we lean or build big chunks of our lives on that truth. The problem comes, though, when what we thought or believed to be true (our faith) takes a big hit. If our faith isn’t leaning against something solid, it will all come tumbling down…like a house of cards. So, pay attention…the stakes are really high.
|
|
House Of Cards - Get In The Game
Faith is confidence that God is who He says He is and will do everything He promises to do...and asking Him if you can be a part of what He's doing.

Praise And Worship
Praise and Worship: There aren't two more "churchy" words than those. What do they really mean? Does praise and worship only happen inside of a building? Is it only singing songs? Or could it be that worship for a very big God is a lot bigger than that?

Whenever you are hiking, running or riding on a trail it's important to know where you are going — and to recognize markers along the way that will get you there. Our goal is to be the kind of church Jesus had in mind when He thought it up. In this series we will explore the markers — or values — along the way that keep us heading in the right direction.

Colorado Trail - Come and See
When you find something good in your life...the view from a mountain top or

The Bible says that Jesus came to set us "free". But, what happens when people start (mis)using what Jesus had in mind and find themselves all locked up with a new set of rules, chains and cages? This month, we're going to try to break free from some of these prisons that have caused some of us to be locked in...and some of us to be locked out.
|
|
Locked Up - Appearance
Followers of Jesus can get caught up in being obsessed with
outward appearance as much as anyone else. The problem is Jesus was always
interested in living life from the inside out.
July 11-12, 2009
Teaching Pastor, Scott Nickell
Locked Up - Wisdom: too much or too little
There are two extremes to Wisdom and Knowledge: Ignorance and Pride. We can be locked up by both.

Spring is in the air and things are starting to turn green and grow. Lawn mowers have replaced snow shovels and gardeners and farmers are dusting off their equipment to get ready for the spring planting. In this series, Jesus is going to teach us that what is true for the garden is also true for our lives. It doesn't take a green thumb to make things grow -- it just takes good soil.

There is no worse feeling than coming to the end of something and
discovering that what you were counting on, depending on or looking forward
to couldn't—or wouldn't—deliver what you had hoped for. You've spent
money, time and energy that you can't get back. Sometimes it's no big deal; a
few dollars here, a couple of hours there. But, what do you do when you
realize that you're wasting your life?
|
|
Waste Management - Wasted Pain
You'll waste your pain if you don't start with one important truth: "God is good and you can trust Him" even when life hurts.
May 2-3, 2009
Lead Pastor, Jim Burgen
Waste Management - Wasted Time
The way we think determines how we spend our time, and there is a way of thinking that will inevitably lead to wasting time and a wasted life.
April 25-26, 2009
Teaching Pastor, Scott Nickell
Waste Management - Wasted Talent
An "unwasted" life is understanding that everything (talent) we have
has been entrusted to us by God and that one day there will be
accountability for what we did with it.
April 18-19, 2009
Lead Pastor, Jim Burgen
Waste Management
Everything we have and do is given to us for a purpose. Jesus said there
are two ways to live your life. One leads to total loss...waste. One leads
to eternal life.

Almost everybody remembers the game "Operation" where the goal was to remove different parts of the patient's body without setting off the buzzer. In real life, many of us are carrying around some "parts" that we wish could be removed, fixed or replaced that easily—but it's going to take more than a giant pair of tweezers. It's going to take someone who really knows what they're doing to perform this kind of "operation."
|
|
Operation - Broken Heart
The most important organ in the body is the heart. If we get everything else right but miss the heart, the whole body falls apart. How does God "fix" our hearts?
April 4-5, 2009
Lead Pastor, Jim Burgen
Operation - Bread Basket
So we've seen that God can use our past for good. But what does it take to get through each day? What can sustain us no matter what today or tomorrow brings? Jesus gave us the answer.
March 28-29, 2009
Teaching Pastor, Scott Nickell
Operation - Wish Bone
Our past is our past. Now, what do we "wish" or hope that our future looks like? Is it possible that God can take whatever is in our past and use it FOR us instead of against us?
March 21-22, 2009
Lead Pastor, Jim Burgen
Click here for more of Candy's story.
Operation - Adam's Apple
Many of us have "inherited" traits and tendencies from our past. Some good. Some not so good. How can we use the good—and allow God to use the "not-so-good"—for something good?

Nobody likes to stay home sick with a 24-hour bug, get a flat tire on the way to work or school, or miss a flight to an important business meeting. It interrupts our plans and throws our busy schedules into chaos. But, flat tires and missed appointments seem like nothing when something "really" big interrupts life. What do I mean by "interrupts"? Simple. Everything goes on "hold" until you figure out the big stuff...like your marriage, your family, your health, your financial security. What do you do when the big stuff–your life–gets interrupted?
|
|
Life: Interrupted - What Am I Going To Do Now?
When life looks uncertain, Jesus tells us what to do FIRST. This truth that He teaches applies to all of the other "most" important areas of our lives, including, our finances.
March 7-8, 2009
Lead Pastor, Jim Burgen
Life: Interrupted - I'm Not OK
What do you do when your life or the life of someone you love is interrupted by depression?

February 21-22, 2009
Teaching Pastor, Scott Nickell
Life: Interrupted
"Life Interrupted" asks the question, "what do I do now?", especially in the area of my most important relationships...my marriage, my romance, my best friend, my family. What do you do now when you get that 2 am phone call that changes everything you counted on for life? (Psalm 119:25-32)
