How do you define yourself? What words come to mind and where do those descriptions come from? As women, we are bombarded with ideas and images of who we should be. Join us for this year’s women’s retreat as we dive into what would happen if we actually let Jesus define us in every way.

Breakfast Club is our newest women’s event. Please join us for a full, hot, sit down breakfast with women of Flatirons. You’ll have a chance to get to know new ladies or sit around a table with old friends if you’d like. Everything we do at Flatirons is intended to bring the love of Christ to a lost and broken world. A significant component of that is making an impact by meeting needs in our community, and around the world.
Check back here for future dates.
Who do we actually imagine God to be? When things don’t go as planned, do we adjust our lives to more closely mirror the reality of Him or do we groan and cling to a weak and safe caricature we have long believed God to be? Life is often difficult and always unpredictable. God is always wild and always good. Join us and venture into the wild side.
What? Christmas is over? How did that happen? One minute I'm mulling over the meaning and significance of Thanksgiving and then . . . POOF . . . it's January 2012.
Well, did you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year? I did. At least I'm pretty sure I did. I have a bad habit of cramming too many activities into the time around Christmas and taking on more things than I can actually finish. That would explain the unsent Christmas cards laying around my study that could be dated like fossils back at least eight years. [continue reading]

Thankfulness = Generosity
I love Thanksgiving. I'm never sure if that's true because I love food, or love being in a house full of people having a good time, or because I know I can officially start listening to Christmas music without embarrassment. I'm sure all of those things are true in varying degrees. Thanksgiving has always intrigued me because it's a whole, special holiday dedicated only to being thankful. It's a great idea and I know the historical story, pilgrims, native Americans, all of that, but how sad is it if we're truly, actually thankful only on the fourth Thursday of November every year?
I'm most struck as I think about the whole picture of what it looks like to follow Jesus. [continue reading]

I think my GPS is broken!
I've had periods in my life where it felt like I just got lost. I would be zipping along fine, following God and really feeling it, or working towards goals that were seemingly worthy, and all of a sudden . . . BAM . . . nothing. It was as if I had a compass, was headed north, when all of a sudden the needle started spinning, the path disappeared and I was frozen in place without the ability to distinguish one direction from another. It usually happens when I begin to over think.What I really mean by that is, I put my lofty plans and ideas about who I should be and what my life should look like right over the top of the perfect plan God has already laid out. For the first time at Breathe, we’re offering breakout workshops! Pick one and attend for three Saturdays to hear Biblically-based, applicable teaching and join in on group discussion. We will offer the options again at a later date to allow participation in multiple workshops over time. When registering, you can choose your workshop from the following selections:
Sex and the Single Life - An open and honest discussion of the sex life God intended for single women. What does the Bible really say? We’ll discuss female sexuality and the role it plays in being a woman, cultural norms, and how that affects sexual interaction, risks, and rewards within the decisions we make about sex. This is for single women of any age or life stage.
God Vs. Feminism? - A study of the history and roots of feminism, along with a fascinating discussion of what the Bible says about women, their value, and their role in the church. How can women’s personal gifts and strengths be used to their full extent?
Forgiveness - It’s a word that we hear in church a lot, but one that is difficult to apply to our lives. Whether we need God’s forgiveness, need the forgiveness of someone in our life, or struggle with the wrongs committed against us, it’s an act that changes everything.
Becoming What You Believe - The Bible's Role in Being Formed in Christ – A practical study designed to help new Christians discover ways to grow their faith; and to help mature Christians go beyond the basic Bible study.
Theology on Tap for women is here! Join other ladies for a discussion group to be held at various pubs and brew houses in the Denver/Boulder area. The goal of Theology On Tap is to create a venue where women from Flatirons (and their friends) can casually get together and talk about some of the big questions of life and faith over a finely crafted beer or two (or glass of wine or two). If you’re not the drinking type we also have a coffee shop available.
These sessions will focus on women’s perspectives on the teaching topics at Flatirons during our first series of 2012, "Reverse Engineering."
