Breaking the Cycle of Fatherlessness

Fatherlessness in America is a crisis impacting abandoned boys and the single moms left to raise them. Forge was created to help break this cycle by providing intentional, Christ-centered mentorship for boys aged 9-16. Through trained, godly men called Guides, we offer hope and healing to boys facing the harsh realities of growing up without a father.

Become a Guide

We’re calling on godly men to step up and become mentors, or Guides, for boys who need a positive role model. As a Guide, you’ll walk alongside your Apprentice, taking him to church, completing service projects, and having meaningful discussions about life and faith. Through your commitment, you’ll give him hope and show him the path to becoming the man God designed him to be.

SINGLE MOMS, WE SEE YOU

As a single mom, you carry the weight of raising a son on your own, but you don’t have to do it alone. The Forge ministry partners your son with a godly man who will be a role model, spiritual guide, and trusted friend. Together, we’ll work to enable your son to grow up with the confidence, faith, and character to thrive.

WHY MENTORSHIP MATTERS

A Guide’s role is more than just a mentor—it’s about transforming lives. Boys without fathers face a future full of uncertainty, but with a Guide, they can break free from the cycle of abandonment. Through prayer, conversation, and service, these boys will begin to understand their true value and how deeply they’re loved by God.

Be the Man These Boys Need

When boys grow up without a committed father, the statistics are staggering—they're more likely to drop out of school, engage in risky behaviors, and struggle with mental health challenges. Forge is here to break the cycle. Through one-on-one mentorship, boys learn to embrace the love of their Heavenly Father and build the foundation for a successful life.

FAQs

Why does Forge exist?

Forge exists to help break the cycle of fatherlessness in our community. Fatherlessness in America is an epidemic which severely and negatively impacts the lives of children - especially the abandoned boys - and the women left to raise them. We must do something to break the cycle, and Forge is our commitment to stop the epidemic.

How does the mentorship program work?

A future of freedom is forged when a Christian man commits to mentor a fatherless boy and engages in intentional faith discussions that focus on the boy's identity and purpose in Christ.  Mentors and boys commit to at least one year, with the option to extend for up to two more years. During that time, they pair with other guides/boys and a network of support and accountability as they attend church together, complete service projects, and spend time discussing faith and identity and having fun.  .

Who can become a Guide?

Christian men who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of fatherless boys can apply to be Guides. All applicants must go through a thorough vetting and training process that includes background checks, references, and interviews to ensure they are equipped to mentor and lead.

What kind of support do Guides receive?

Guides are supported by Coaches, who provide ongoing training, prayer, and resources. Coaches meet with Guides regularly to offer encouragement and help navigate challenges. Guides also connect with other mentors through monthly meetings for additional support and accountability.

What kind of activities do the boys and Guides do together?

Each month, Guides and their apprentices participate in a variety of activities and intentional connections in small groups and pairing with other Guides/Apprentices.  Examples include attending church services together, completing community service projects, and engaging in fun activities that include a faith discussion centered on the boy's identity in Christ and God's love for him.

What kind of time commitment is required from Guides?

Guides are asked to commit to approximately 8 hours monthly for at least one year of mentoring. This includes attending church twice a month with their Apprentice, participating in a monthly service project, and having an additional fun activity combined with a faith discussion.

How does a Single Mom apply to place her boy in the ministry?

Single moms can fill out an interest form to speak with Ministry volunteers and learn more about the process.

What is the age group of boys that are eligible for the ministry?

We want to be there for boys during some of the most impactful years of their lives, so we're focusing on young men between the ages of 9 and 16.

Where is Forge located?

Forge has a presence and campus leadership at each of Flatirons five Denver-metro area locations.

How are the Guides (Mentors) chosen and qualified for the ministry?

We believe a one-on-one mentorship creates an intentional relationship that transforms the boy's life and is a critical foundation to the healing necessary for young boys to become healthy men.

We also recognize and carry the significant responsibility that comes with protecting boys and ensuring they are in a safe environment for them to grow; the safety of the young boys in the Forge program is our top priority. That is why we require adherence to rigorous standards, including national background checks, pastoral and community references, individual oversight by a trained coach, multiple interviews by trained volunteers, and ultimately, final approval by Flatirons pastoral staff members. Once approved to participate, all volunteers are required to complete mandatory reporting and sexual abuse training to increase awareness, provide tools, and enhance overall vigilance for keeping children safe.

What are other ways to support the ministry?

You can support the ministry by volunteering at events, helping with service projects, administrative tasks, or becoming a Coach to provide guidance to mentors and single moms. There are many opportunities to make a difference, and every role is vital in supporting the boys and their families. Fill out a volunteer interest form to learn more.
