FAQs

Who are the outreach ministries we are partnering with?

We're partnering with two amazing ministries whose Mission is to provide people in Africa with nutritious food. Life In Abundance is an African-founded, African-led, and faith-based organization with over 25 years of experience bringing hope to more than a million people in need. Lifeline has partnered with local leaders around the world to help develop holistic solutions to problems faced by vulnerable communities.

Where are the packing locations going to be?

With such an ambitious goal, we will need all hands on deck! We'll have packing teams running in 2-hour shifts at all campuses: Longmont, Lafayette, Denver, Aurora, and West!

Why is Flatirons doing this?

By providing meals to families in Africa through our global partners, Lifeline and Life in Abundance, we're not just meeting a real need—we're giving our kids a chance to learn compassion and responsibility. Plus, it's a great way to bring our church together around a bigger mission, showing the impact we can make when we step up as a community.

How will the food get overseas, and how long will it take to get there?

Flatirons has partnered with Lifeline Christian Mission on this project. Lifeline will oversee international shipping and has standing relationships with the partners who will receive and distribute the meals. Depending on international customs, weather, political environments, etc., the food may take several months to reach its destination.

This sort of sounds like that whole Western Savior thing...

Our intention is to approach global missions in partnership with trusted organizations who maintain in-country leadership. We believe that God is using our international partners in culturally relevant ways that empower communities with dignity and Jesus’ love. We see our role as offering the time, talent, and resources we’ve been gifted with to come alongside our international partners as they directly engage with their local communities. We are happy for our partners to be the ones who distribute this food and offer additional outreach in their areas of expertise.

Why rice and beans?

Rice and beans are staples in many diets around the world. Combined with the dry vitamins that are added to each pack, they make a quality, high-nutrient, filling hot meal.
