  1. Why did people want to trick Daniel into getting into trouble with the king? (They were jealous of him because he was so smart and the king liked him the best. He even put Daniel in charge of them.)
  2. What did Daniel decide to do with the new law? (He decided to not follow it and continue to pray to God every day.)
  3. When Daniel was caught praying, what did the king do? (The king was sad because he liked Daniel so much, but he knew he couldn’t change the law. So, he put Daniel in the lions’ den and worried about him all night.)

  5. The king was amazed and said he believed in the God that Daniel prayed to and that he was going to follow God now. Can you name someone you can pray for that you want to know and follow God?
PARENT BIBLE STUDY

Read: Daniel 6

Daniel stood firm in his faith, even in the face of opposition from powerful people, and he continued to pray consistently to the one, true God. Despite all that he could lose, Daniel refused to conform. A reluctant and regretful King Darius threw Daniel into the den of lions. King Darius hated what he was doing because he knew there was something different about Daniel’s God.

As he threw Daniel to the lions, he said, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!” Daniel 6:16.

King Darius didn’t know it yet, but he already had a small amount of faith in the one, true God.

In that lions’ den, Daniel faced death with courage and calm. God protected Daniel, and he came out in one piece. His bravery, and God’s goodness, ignited faith in King Darius.

After seeing Daniel alive at the bottom of the lions’ den, the king proclaimed truth to his entire kingdom saying, “For he is the living God, and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end. He rescues and he saves, he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions,” Daniel 6:26-27.

Daniel’s courage showed King Darius the one, true God is the only God worthy of worship, and he inspired the king to lead an entire nation toward this truth.

Where in your life do you feel pressure to conform? How does Daniel’s story inspire you and challenge you to remain faithful to the one true God?

Your faith, good or bad, influences the people around you. What kind of influence are you?
