Rahab and the Spies - Week 1

September 5-6, 2020 |

This four-part series explores how God’s people were strong and courageous – not from their own strength but God’s. They came into the Promised Land, believing he would be with them. God makes the same promise to be with us, too, which gives us the courage we need to be strong.

Story activity

We learned an exciting story about spies scouting out the city of Jericho. Now it's your turn to be a spy! Check out the following picture. Play a game of "I Spy" with your friends and family. There are 15 red ropes in the picture, just like the red rope Rahab used to signal that her house should be protected. How fast can you find all 15 red ropes?

GROUP Q&A

  1. What was your favorite part of the story? (Take responses.)
  2. How did Rahab help the Israelite spies? (She hid them in her house.)
  3. What would you have done if you were Rahab? (Take responses.)
  4. Why do you think Rahab helped the Israelites? (Take responses. She knew God’s strength.)
  5. Have you ever done something that was really scary, but you trusted God was with you? (Take responses, giving a personal example if need be. A good example is asking someone to hang out when nobody else wanted to; maybe because they were mean or a new kid in class or something.)

ASK YOUR KID

Q. Why did Rahab want to help God's people?
