Group Questions
- How do you describe Flatirons when someone asks you “what kind of church is it”?
- “In order to become people of the Word of God, then we have to have a Bible and read the Word of God”. This seems like a “no-brainer” type of statement, yet Jim felt called to make it. What is the purpose of reading the Bible? If you don’t read the Bible much, what are sources of “truth” put before you daily?
- Read Matthew 28:18-20. These are Jesus last words before he ascends into heaven. What are the different commands and functionally, how should we be doing that?
- What is the difference between believing in God and that Jesus is God’s son versus believing in God and that Jesus is God’s son but also living like he is your lord and savior? (Read Mat 8:28; James 2:19)
- Jim said: “Forgiveness is the starting line, not the finish line.” If Satan loses you to baptism, he has one last strategy – “dunk’em, dry’em off, dry’em up”. That way, you might not be going to hell but at least you are not walking as a disciple of Christ and impacting others. How does knowing what Jesus said in the Bible help us become disciples? What is the impact a disciple has on others versus a “moral churchgoer” (as Matt Chandler describes non-growing Christians)?

SO, IN A NUTSHELL...THE CHURCH THAT JESUS HAD IN MIND IS MADE UP OF HIS FULLY DEVOTED FOLLOWERS WHO ARE INTENTIONALLY LIVING THEIR LIVES IN SUCH A WAY AND FOR THE PURPOSE OF SEEING PEOPLE THAT THEY CARE ABOUT WHO ARE NOT CURRENTLY FOLLOWING JESUS BECOME FULLY DEVOTED DISCIPLES/FOLLOWERS OF JESUS WHO, LIKE THEM, TOGETHER, ARE PROGRESSIVELY LIVING OUR LIVES IN OBEDIENCE AND CONFORMITY TO THE TEACHINGS OF JESUS.
Notice the words “fully”, “intentionally”, and “progressively”. Describe how we can follow Jesus “fully”,
“progressively” and “intentionally”? How does that play out each day?
