// Community Question
How did last week go? What did we spend our time on? What did we spend our money on? Does anyone have a story where they felt God’s leaning and followed Him to give time or money? What happened?
// Discussion Questions
- Read Matthew 6:24 What does it mean to serve money? How would thinking more about how we could grow in our faith more than making money help us in our daily lives?
- Read 1 Peter 5:1-5 “Exhort” in this passage means to carry more weight and urgency, why do you think what Peter is saying vs 1-5 so important?
- Read 1 Peter 5:2-3 Peter says that shepherding the flock (local church) means to lead or go first by being an example. What are some ways God is asking you to “go first” and provide and protect for your friends or family?
- Read 1 Peter 5:4 Unfading means “an ‘immortal’ flower that never withers or fades, and when plucked revives if moistened with water” Crown is “a metaphor for eternal blessedness given as a prize to genuine servants of God.” When we partner with Jesus what we do has eternal rewards and implications. How might this knowledge change the way we prioritize our lives?
- Read 1 Peter 5:5 What does it look like to be humble? Why does it take humility to serve God and His church?
- Read Matthew 28:18-20 This is Jesus’ last command to believers. Why is this command important?
// Challenge: How is God asking us individually to go deeper with Him and the church with our time, attention, and money? Is giving 1% more to the church hard or easy? Why?
