Same Demons. Different Day.
Are You Following Jesus or Just Believing?
October 11, 2026 | By Jim Burgen
What if you've been reading the Bible your whole life and still missing what's really going on?
In Part 3 of Same Demons, Different Day, Jim Burgen unpacks the spiritual world behind the Bible's bigger story, from the divine council in Psalm 82 to the rebellion in the Garden of Eden. Understanding the Bible in its original context changes how we recognize spiritual warfare, understand our enemy, and put our faith into action today.
If you've ever struggled to understand the supernatural parts of Scripture or wondered what spiritual warfare has to do with your everyday life, this message will challenge you to look beyond the surface. Watch and share it with someone who's ready to dig deeper into God's Word.

// Community Question: When you see division happening around you, what’s your natural response: engage, avoid it, try to fix it, or something else?
// Discussion Questions
- Jim challenged us to move beyond a surface-level understanding of Scripture. How would you describe your relationship with God’s Word right now? Are you actively seeking to know God more deeply, or have you found yourself relying on what you already know?
- James 2:14-19 reminds us that genuine faith leads to action. Where in your life do you see your faith shaping how you live, and where might there be a disconnect between what you say you believe and how you are actually living?
- Jim discussed how passages like Psalm 82 and Genesis 3 reveal a spiritual realm and historical rebellions that shape our world today. How does looking for the 'more than literal' timeless truth change the way you read and apply difficult scriptural texts?
- Jim asked us to examine what we are prioritizing. If someone looked at how you spend your time, what would they say matters most to you? Is there anything God might be asking you to surrender or rearrange to make Him your first priority?
// Challenge: Jim challenged us to move from passive faith to boldly living for Jesus. This week, put your faith into action! Commit to praying daily for our pastors, church leadership, and those in government authority. Make it a priority to gather with your church family to worship God, then take that worship beyond the church walls. Identify one person or situation where God may be calling you to speak truth, show love, or stand up for what is right. Ask Him for wisdom and courage, and take one intentional step of obedience this week. Remember, we are called to be salt and light, not just on Sundays, but everywhere God has placed us.
