// Community Question
Share a time when you quit something that you wish you would have kept doing. Or share a time when you really wanted to quit and didn’t, and after you finished, you saw the payoff and were glad you persevered.

// Discussion Questions

  1. Read Proverbs 12:11. In the sermon, Ben emphasized the importance of diligence in spiritual growth and highlighted three critical aspects of being a wise, diligent person, including understanding that change takes time. Why is it important to understand that change takes time in our spiritual growth? How can you apply the principles of patience and understanding that change takes time in your own spiritual journey?

  2. Read Proverbs 24:30-34. Ben encourages us not to be discouraged by the length or difficulty of the journey and to focus on the process instead of the end results. Can you share a time when you faced setbacks in your life and how you persevered through them? What does it mean to you, to persevere in our Christian journey despite setbacks or slow progress?

  3. Ben emphasized that we as people are trained to take shortcuts by our “have it now” culture. How has our culture affected the way we approach our relationship with God, our family, or our work? What does a “shortcut" look like when we know we need to spend time with our kids? Demonstrate that we love our spouse? Or demonstrate integrity at work?

  4. Read Philippians 3:12-14. Paul emphasizes the importance of leaving past failures or accomplishments behind and focusing on the future, pressing forward toward the ultimate goal of fulfilling God’s calling. What does it mean to “forget what lies behind” and “strain forward to what lies ahead” in our own lives? Do you have something from your past that you need to let go of, confess, and give to God, to press on toward what He is calling you into?

Challenge: Proverbs passages were utilized to emphasize the significance that growth and wisdom need patience, effort, and persistence. As we wrap up this series on Word to the Wise, how do verses from Proverbs relate to and clarify the concept of wisdom and diligence? Whether from this message of the past six weeks messages, what is a Proverbs verse that resonated with you, and how can you apply its wisdom in your life?
