Group Questions
1. Servants or slaves are told to treat their masters with respect, whether their master is good or bad. (1 Peter 2:18)? What would it look like to consistently treat your boss with respect? How can do that starting tomorrow?
2. Read Romans 12:19-21. Describe a time where an injustice was done to you and how you responded. (No judging). What would it have looked like if you repaid the evil with good?
3. Ben described treating your boss with respect and repaying evil with good as “radical” commands. What is it about our culture that would make most think this was “radical” or counterculture? How might this impact your co-workers if they saw you respond unlike them?
4. At some point, if the situation remains unjust and is becoming detrimental to you or your family, it would be best to free yourself from it. Give an example of a situation like that and how you could free yourself from it. How do you know when it’s time to turn the corner from enduring it to freeing yourself from it?
5. 1 Peter 2:22-23 reminds us that when Jesus was reviled (spoken of with contemptuous or abusive language), he did not revile in return. When he suffered, he made no threats. Does that show strength or weakness? Why?
6. What begins to happen to one’s character if they don’t forgive and allow God to take care of justice?
