// Discussion Questions

  1. Jim emphasizes that baptism is not only about repenting of past sins, but also about renouncing allegiances to anything that competes with Jesus as Lord and Savior, signifying a complete commitment to Jesus. What are some areas in your life where you may struggle to fully commit to Jesus, and how can you actively work on renouncing those allegiances?
  2. Jim discusses how 1 Peter 3:18-22 connects Jesus's descent to the spirits in prison with the ongoing battle between good and evil. How do you see this connection, and what does it tell us about spiritual warfare? Additionally, how can you engage in spiritual warfare personally, and what role can you play in the broader fight against evil??
  3. Jim talks about typology in the Bible, where past events or figures connect to future ones, like the Passover foreshadowing Jesus's death and resurrection. How can we grasp the concept of typology better, and can you identify other examples of it in the Bible? How does recognizing these connections enhance our understanding of Scripture?
  4. The sermon highlights Peter's view of Jesus as the second Enoch, shedding light on Enoch's descent to the imprisoned spirits and Jesus's victory over fallen angels. Why is it important that Peter sees Jesus this way? How can you personally witness Jesus's victory in your life and help others see the same truth?
  5. Pastor Jim discusses how the flood was a necessary event to address the depravity of mankind's hearts. How do the events in the story of the flood connect to the concept of baptism? How has baptism played a role in your faith journey, and how can you live out of a “From Now On” mindset in your daily life?

// Challenge: How can we demonstrate that we choose Jesus by declaring to the demonic realm that we are done with their false gods and idols?
