June 22, 2025 | By Karl Romeus
Ever feel like your family is one emotional explosion away from blowing up the holidays? Welcome to House of Dysfunction, where we don’t run from the chaos, we meet God right in the middle of it. In this week’s story, we kick things off with Karl’s unforgettable Big Fat Haitian Thanksgiving and roll right into the shocking grace of Rahab, a woman everyone wrote off… except God. If you’ve ever felt like your past disqualifies you from purpose, this message is for you. Grace doesn’t just clean up the mess, it moves in and builds something better.

- Why do you think God chose Rahab the prostitute, someone who seemed unqualified, to play a key role in His story? Reflect on a time when you felt unqualified for something. How can you view that situation with a new perspective of grace and purpose?
- Rahab risked her life by hiding the spies and declaring her loyalty to their God, even though she had just met them. In what ways did Rahab demonstrate a faith that surpassed her fearful situation? Can you think of a time when you or someone you knew took a risk for something you or they believed in? What did that experience teach you about faith?
- How does Rahab's story illustrate the idea of grace being available to everyone, regardless of their past? What aspects of your own life make you feel like you don't belong, and how can you find hope in God's grace despite those feelings?
- Going Deeper: The message explains that the scarlet cord used to signal the spies originally represented Rahab’s availability for prostitution, and after Rahab’s faithfulness, the scarlet cord became a symbol of future redemption and mercy. How does the scarlet cord relate to the theme of personal redemption? Can you think of something in your life that God has redeemed? How did that experience shape your understanding of mercy?
// Challenge: Karl encouraged taking small actions of obedience that could lead to significant changes or a Godly legacy over time. Identify one small step you can take this week that might lead to a bigger change in your life or the lives of those around you.
